SELECTING A
PLASTIC SURGEON

“I think it’s probably one of the most important things in deciding to have plastic surgery is to pick a surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Unfortunately it can be very confusing to potential patients because there aren’t any scope of practice laws in Arizona. Doctors can put their shingle out saying they’re a plastic surgeon, and if don’t know how to do the research you totally believe that they are a plastic surgeon when in fact they can be an obstetrician or a dermatologist and doing face lifts, breast augs and liposuction. I think it’s in the patient’s best interest to make sure the doctor is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and not some other board that really doesn’t have anything to do to with plastic surgical training.

“I also think it’s important to seek out someone that has a great deal of experience. I have been in practice for 13 years and I think those years have helped me to become a better surgeon. I think it’s really important to pick someone you have great rapport with and feel like you can communicate easily with. Once all those boxes are checked off you’re in good hands and you can safely move forward with a peace of mind.”
