Every so often I like to share an article that I feel will resonate with my patients. This piece from Salt Lake Magazine was brought to my attention by one of my patients and has a very balanced view of the Mommy Makeover procedure. The article highlights several women of the Mormon faith who have had plastic surgery after multiple pregnancies. Because Arizona also has a large population of Mormons I have enjoyed performing many Mommy Makeovers on women from this group. Their healthy attitudes towards their bodies and plastic surgery are refreshing.
You may be surprised at some of the statistics in the story regarding the popularity of cosmetic procedures in Utah, which is traditionally considered a very conservative state. It just goes to show that people from all walks of life enjoy the benefits of improved self-image that has been shown to occur following cosmetic surgery.
As with any procedure, make sure you do your homework and research any surgeon you are considering consulting with. Discount fees and gimmicks usually do not bode well. Board certification in plastic surgery, years of experience and number of similar procedures performed are all important issues in selecting a surgeon. I hope you enjoy the article as much as I did.
