Liquid Facelift

Women, and men in Scottsdale & Phoenix seek non-surgical options to look their best

You may have heard others raving about a non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedure called a “Liquid Facelift”— leaving you to wonder: what exactly is a “Liquid Facelift?

Board certified plastic surgeons such as myself who have the requisite training and an eye for detail can often use “injectables” such as BOTOX®, Juvéderm, and other hyaluronic acid-based fillers to rejuvenate the face without the need for truly invasive plastic surgery. No scalpel, no general anesthesia…voila, the “Liquid Facelift.”

These types of “non-surgical face-lifting” techniques can also include medical grade chemical peels or light-based therapies such as BBL to address visible signs of aging on the actual surface of the skin.

How Does It Work?

In a nutshell: BOTOX® is used to address fine lines and wrinkles, dermal “fillers” are used to sculpt, and replace volume that we lose in our face over time. Treatments to the surface of the skin, whether they be in the form of chemical peels or light-based therapies can address uneven skin tone and texture.

In my practice I often combine some or all of the techniques above with the goal of creating a result that looks beautiful and balanced, leaving patients with a more youthful, rested, and rejuvenated version of themselves. All without making a single surgical incision.

If you look in the mirror and are slowly beginning not to recognize the person staring back at you, you’re not alone. If you feel that “something must be done” but you are not ready for “plastic surgery,” once again, you are not alone.

I cannot tell you how many patients have come into my office seeking a solution for loss of volume, wrinkles, fine lines, deep creases and sun damage on their face and even their décolletage, but feel that they are too young or simply not ready to have plastic surgery.

In reality, the best outcomes for those who truly need surgical correction is in fact surgery, a subject I never shy away from when discussing various options with my patients. However, for the right candidate, there are many non-invasive ways to address many common signs of aging, refresh your appearance, and make you look rested and vibrant, all without “going under the knife.”

BOTOX®

It has been available for quite some time, but many people still aren’t aware that in the right hands, BOTOX® is a fantastic non-surgical option to treat areas such as frown lines (those vertical lines between the eyebrows that make you look angry or worried- often called the “the elevens”), crows feet (thin lines at the outer edges of the eyes) and brow furrows (the horizontal lines across the forehead that unfortunately can add years to a person’s face).

Many men and women have decidedly stayed away from BOTOX® because they fear that after treatment they will be left expressionless or have an odd looking appearance— something that is not typical when patients seek treatment performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon experienced in injecting BOTOX®.  Poor outcomes after BOTOX® are almost always due to the lack of skill and training of the doctor, physician assistant, nurse, aesthetician or other type of “injector” that many less informed people continually trust their health and appearance too.

The name BOTOX® itself refers to botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin that temporarily paralyzes muscles. Because these types of lines are caused by muscle contractions, these injections will cause muscles to relax for three to four months, causing unwanted lines to soften and in many cases, virtually disappear.

As a board certified plastic surgeon, I have been using BOTOX® successfully for quite some time, and have been named a Black Diamond provider by Allergan, meaning I am in the top 1% of medical practices across the nation— a distinction that I am extremely proud of. I am the sole provider/injector in my practice; thus all of my patient’s injections in both my Scottsdale and Mesa offices are performed exclusively by me. My training and expertise helps to ensure not only safety but natural looking results as well.

JUVEDERM VOLUMA XC AND VOLLURE

Allergan produces what I consider to be the highest quality hyaluronic acid dermal fillers on the market. Hyaluronic acid, a gel-like water-retaining molecule, helps keep skin plump and hydrated. It’s found naturally in our bodies, but we produce less and less of it over time. As we age, our skin loses volume and elasticity, deep lines often form, and our cheeks can take on a sunken look. I inject Juvéderm, directly into the cheeks as well as other areas. Juvéderm Voluma XC can also be used in certain areas of the face to reclaim a softer, more youthful appearance.

VOLBELLA XC LIP ENHANCEMENT

For thin or extremely lined lips, my go-to injectable filler is Volbella XC. It’s so important in the lip area to avoid “overdoing it” thus creating lips that are overly plump, which makes them look and feel completely unnatural.

Volbella XC uses different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid in a proprietary technology called VYCROSS technology which allows the filler to be spread thinner where needed to treat lines while still providing the desired fullness in the lips themselves.

I enjoy performing “liquid facelifts” on my patients because I can achieve beautiful and subtle, yet stunning facial rejuvenation without surgery and there really isn’t downtime to speak of. Best of all my patients can immediately look into the mirror and see the results. This is gratifying for both of us.
