Have you heard? The FDA recently approved a new, longer-lasting filler for laugh lines, parentheses, and other moderate to severe facial wrinkles: Juvéderm Vollure® XC.
While I am not one to jump on the bandwagon of “latest and greatest” products, Vollure is no fad. The latest development from the trusted Juvéderm filler family, Vollure has staying power, quite literally, and I am excited to offer it to patients at my Scottsdale plastic surgery practice as well as my Mesa office.
Juvéderm Vollure XC benefits include:
- Vollure can last up to 18 months or longer. In clinical trials, 82% of patients were very satisfied with their results 6 months following treatment, and 68% were still very satisfied at 18 months. If you currently receive filler injections every 6 months or so to smooth nasolabial folds, Vollure may be a more cost-effective filler for you.
- Thanks to VYCROSS® technology, Vollure has a slightly firmer consistency that allows me to inject it more deeply to smooth more pronounced creases, yet it is still soft enough to spread optimally beneath the skin and achieve a subtle, beautiful result that allows for normal, natural facial expressions.
- Vollure offers the same smooth, natural feel and safe treatment as other Juvéderm products. Vollure is made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body, and therefore has nearly zero risk for allergic reaction.
Juvéderm vs. Vollure: which is a better option for you?
If you currently like the results you get with Juvéderm XC, and would like a longer-lasting option, then Vollure may be a good fit for your needs. However, everyone is unique, and Juvéderm XC remains an excellent option for many patients. A few key differences in the two products:
- Juvéderm XC is slightly thinner and softer and is excellent for nasolabial folds as well as some more delicate areas, such as the corners of the mouth or lines around the forehead or eyes; Vollure is best suited for moderate to severe creases around the nose and mouth.
- Juvéderm XC will last 6 to 12 months; Vollure will last up to 18 months.
- Vollure is priced slightly higher per syringe than Juvéderm XC; however since it lasts longer, treatment is not necessarily more expensive in the long run.
Ultimately, the only way to determine which filler is best for you is to seek treatment from a highly experienced, qualified provider who understands the intricacies of facial anatomy and is well-versed in a variety of products. A board certified plastic surgeon is your best bet.
