Complex Breast Cases
Background
This is a 61 year-old who had breast augmentation many years ago by another surgeon. Her first implants were placed on top of the muscle and she developed scar tissue (capsular contracture) resulting in very firm breasts. She then had them placed under the muscle. Over time the right breast became exceedingly firm, distorted in shape and larger than the opposite breast due to recurrent capsular contracture. She desired an exchange with slightly larger implants. She underwent an implant exchange and Strattice placement bilaterally. High profile silicone implants were used, 325 cc on the left side and 375 cc on the right. Strattice was used to prevent recurrent capsular contracture. Her post-operative photos were taken one year following her surgery at which point her breasts remain very soft.
